The Michelin Guide's review
The Arabs built an alcázar here, which was taken by King Sanchez I Ramirez at the end of the 11C. It was that time and the early 12C that saw the construction of the walls and the church, which was transformed c 1530. The north gallery of the Romanesque cloisters has preserved its lovely capitals representing scenes from the Bible: Balaam with the ass, Adam and Eve, the Last Supper... all sculpted in a rich archaic style. Inside the church, you can admire a fine Romanesque Christ from the 12C.
