The Michelin Guide's review
Between the Adirondacks and the Atlantic Ocean, the Hudson flows over 500km through hills and steep mountains, but the valley, a designated Heritage Area, is on a more manageable scale. The remarkable cluster of historical houses is a throwback to the era of Dutch colonisation. In the 19C, the opulent residences of industry barons and grand dynasties, such as the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt families were added to this heritage.
