The Michelin Guide's review
The island of Lampedusa, regularly in the headlines due to the growing numbers of clandestine migrants who attempt to reach its shores, consists of a vast limestone plateau which culminates, at its northern end, in sheer cliffs. The south coast is jaggedly rugged with long headlands alternating with deep creeks and sandy beaches. It is surrounded by a crystal-clear sea of transparent turquoise, emerald and deep blue.
