Classic Cuisine
The Michelin Guide's review
Located in the sleepy town of Wangen, this pretty inn with an attractive 16C barrel vault is a wonderful meeting of the historical and the modern. A dedicated couple have been plying their trade here since 2005 – Matthias Brunner is in charge of the kitchen, while Bettina Brunner-Schill oversees the friendly front-of-house team. The cuisine has classical leanings and is made with only the finest ingredients. Choose between the seasonal set menu (omnivore or vegetarian) and their à la carte "classics" – the regional beef tenderloin served with harissa sabayon, potato roll and winter vegetables whets the appetite. Savvy wine recommendations. At lunchtime there is also a reasonably priced set menu. The cosy, rustic-style Gaststube, serving traditional cuisine, is a nice alternative to Badstube. Gasthof Sternen has comfortable guestrooms.
