The Michelin Guide's Opinion
Set right in the Capitol Mall, this upscale stunner (which also has outposts in University Village and Roseville) dons an elegant demeanor by way of heavy wooden doors, dark metal chandeliers and plenty of lush greenery. The sprawling outdoor patio boasts terrific people-watching. And though it’s named for Mexico City’s central plaza, this kitchen's menu offers regional highlights from around the country.Puebla-style chicken enchiladas, for instance, smothered in handmade mole poblano burst with flavor, while crispy tostadas contrast rich Michoacan-style carnitas against a zesty and bright salsa. Tequila nerds will thrill to the extensive selection, but there’s no shame in just ordering a margarita—the “Mango Fresco” with a tajín salt rim is a winner.
