The Michelin Guide's review
Nestled into a charming 19th-century Victorian in the heart of downtown Mountain View, Chez TJ has a classic air that befits its status as an elder statesman of fine dining. Under the leadership of Chef Christopher Lemerand, a single tasting menu is offered, which weaves together classic French elements with contemporary flavors. Take, for example, a luscious bone marrow royale, gilded with morsels of Dungeness crab; a heady consommé made from its shells is poured tableside by one of the adroit, sharply attired servers. Desserts, like a frozen mousse of coconut (paired with passionfruit and makrut lime), are spot-on, and the wine list is a treasure trove, with bottles ranging from heavy-hitters to bargain gems—and even the by-the-glass selection is choice.
