The Michelin Guide's review
This Cistercian abbey was rebuilt in the 18C after the Turkish occupation. Once through the portico, you will see a vast façade and to the left the entrance to the church. The church is home to frescoes by the Austrian artist F.A. Maulbertsch. The library, in the main wing of the abbey, boasts 65,000 volumes including 70 incunabula (printed medieval works) and an exhibition on the abbey's history. Before leaving the abbey grounds, it's worth strolling around the arboretum to admire its rare plants.
