The Michelin Guide's review
Many lakes in the world are called "eye of the sea" because of the plethora of legends that link seas to mountain lakes. The path to the aptly named Morskie Oko Lake passes the Mickiewicz Waterfall, the final point of the hike in winter, then the large clearing, Polana Włosienica. You then arrive at the refuge, which borders the lake, against the backdrop of the high peaks of the Tatras. Allow for at least a 6hr walk with the lake circuit trail.
