The Michelin Guide's review
In the late 19C, Zygmunt Gnatowski, an ethnologist and fervent admirer of the Tatras, wanted to build himself a summer residence at Zakopane. He commissioned Stanisław Witkiewicz to carry out the project, enabling the latter to deploy his architectural theories, thus giving birth to the "Koliba" house, the first application of the Zakopane style. It is now a museum and ideal to get better acquainted with the principles of housing construction.
