The Michelin Guide's review
The current edifice was erected in the 12C on the site of a triple-nave early Christian basilica. Its fascinating façade is by far the most intriguing aspect of the structure. Built in the 13C, it is reminiscent of that of the church of St Chrysogone and carries the same Tuscan stamp. The first level is adorned with typically Romanesque motifs, while the tympanum dates from 1324. Inside, the width of the nave is impressive. The chancel stalls are richly decorated in the floral Gothic style in vogue in the early 15C.
