Museo Rafael Coronel - Former convent of San Francisco
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Rafael Coronel, a painter and collector, established an exceptional ensemble of Mexican folk art, housed in the former convent of San Francisco. The masks, a fundamental part of Mexican rites and festivals, are especially remarkable. The thousands of pieces awaiting you here are made of amazingly diverse materials, shapes and colours. Also on display are archaeological objects (Pre-Hispanic ceramics), puppets (19C), colonial artwork, and drawings by Diego Rivera. A moment of sheer grace!
