Royal Abbey of Épau
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This country abbey on the banks of the Huisme was founded in 1229 by Queen Bérengère. The monastic buildings are organised around a cloister: refectory, scriptorium and dormitory. The 13C-14C church was renovated in the 15C and boasts an immense, delicately sculpted window and a characteristic flat Cistercian chancel.
