Five Coloured Lake
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Zechawa Valley is the site of the Five Coloured Lake, one of the smallest lakes of Jiuzhaigou Park (5,645m²/18,520ft²), but one of its most beautiful. The bottom of the lake, (up to 6.6m/21ft deep in places), covered in travertine and seaweed, is famous for its beautiful colours. According to a Tibetan legend, the Goddess Semo comes here every morning to wash and comb her hair. Some of her eyeshadow is said to have fallen in the water, turning it amazing colours.
