The Michelin Guide's review
A boat trip down the River Li is a delightful experience whatever the weather. In mist and fog, the karst rocks appear magical and mysterious, while in fine weather you'll see buffalo in the water, bamboo plants, and the rafts of fishermen out fishing with their cormorant. And as is always the case in China, each section of the landscape has a name: the hill of the Brush, of the Fighting Cockerels, of the Five Fingers etc. This boat trip can also be taken from Guilin.
