The Michelin Guide's review
A walk along the mound of the old ramparts, planted with elms and ash, reveals the shiny rooftops of the old quarter, the majestic towers of the Church of St Peter and St Paul and, in the distance, the rolling Vosges mountains. One wall runs alongside an arm of the River Lauter in the middle of the town. Not far from the Stanislas House is the Schartenturm, a vestige of the old monastery fortifications. A second wall starts at the far end of the Bitche district.
