The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This museum showcases a collection of works by Swiss, German and Austrian artists from the 18C, 19C and 20C. In addition to masterpieces by German Romantics, including Chalk cliffs at Rügen (1818) by Caspar David Friedrich, don't miss Anker's portraits of children and the many canvases by Ferdinand Hodler. Its permanent holdings of works by Jakob Briner (Dutch Golden Age) and Emil S. Kern (miniatures), together with 7,000 etchings, are exhibited on a revolving basis.
