Haliburton House Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
In the 19C, this house, perched at the top of a grassy, wooded hill, was the home of Thomas Chandler Haliburton (1796-1865), judge, legislator and author. He achieved international renown with his ironic social satires The Clockmaker and The Sayings and Doings of Samuel Slick of Slickville. The elegance of the property, which dates from 1836 and has lovely grounds, is testimony to its owner's prominent status in society in his day.
