The Michelin Guide's review
This tall cotton mill built in 1784 stands in an 11ha wooded park, through which the River Bollin runs. It is one of the best examples of the first industrial revolution. An exhibition charts textile production, from the plantations to the calicos, which are sold in the shop. Visitors get to see demonstrations of hand spinning, hand weaving, and a mechanical loom in operation.
