The Michelin Guide's review
Founded in 1233, this old Cistercian convent has been occupied since the Reformation by a community of Protestant canonesses. It also houses a number of treasures, including the stone statue of its founder (1280). The nuns' chancel is embellished with splendid early-14C mural paintings. Once a year, starting on the Friday after Whitsun, the convent exhibits its famous Wienhausen tapestries (1300-1500) for ten days.
