The Michelin Guide's review
In the 13C, Jews were given permission to settle in Vienna, to acquire property and to trade. They built a synagogue, school, hospital and baths on or near this square. The heart of the Jewish ghetto in the Middle Ages, Judenplatz has at its centre the Holocaust Memorial. The Museum Judenplatz attractively presents the historical origins of Vienna's Jewish community.
