Buttolph-Williams House
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This center-chimney house (c.1720), distinguished by oak clapboards, casement windows and a hewn overhang, is considered to be one of the most faithful restorations of an early Colonial dwelling in Connecticut. Particularly evocative of the Pilgrim era, the house served as the inspiration for the popular children's book The Witch of Blackbird Pond (1958) by Elizabeth George Speare.
