The Michelin Guide's review
Built between 1175 and 1508 in Early English style, Wells cathedral stands on the edge of town within the boundaries of an extensive green. Its spectacular façade is twice as high as it is wide, measuring almost 46m across. It boasts one of the richest series of sculptures from the 13C in England. The scissor arch in the nave is equally impressive, not forgetting the cathedral's rich ornamentation and the superb stained-glass windows.
