The Michelin Guide's review
After the death of her husband the Grand Duchess Anna Amalia moved to this two-winged Baroque palace and it came to be known as The Widow's Palace. She held her famous Salons here, attended by celebrities such as Wieland, Goethe, Herder and Schiller. The Wieland Museum charts the work of the German philosopher, translator and major figure of the Age of Enlightenment.
