The Michelin Guide's review
Serving as the northern entrance to Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, the nonprofit park provides an excellent introduction to the swamp's 700sq mi of canals, moss-draped cypress trees and lily-pad prairies. This is the only entrance to the swamp where you can take a guided boat tour and enjoy daily "Eye on Nature" shows featuring live denizens of the swamp. Park admission fee includes a ride on the 1.5mi railroad. To penetrate the swamp's deeper reaches, rent a canoe and paddle through the tea-colored waters along the refuge's 120mi of canoe trails.
