Built from 1938 to 1945 between Wassen and Innertkirchen, the Susten Road is a masterpiece of civil engineering. It is the first of Switzerland's great Alpine roadways to have been designed for vehicle traffic. It is best driven in fine weather, as its 50km length is punctuated with sublime viewpoints and lovely walks in fantastic landscapes. Not to be missed under any circumstances!
