The Michelin Guide's review
Bregenzerwald is one of the most diverse natural regions in the eastern Alps, a mix of rolling valleys and Alpine peaks (2 600m). The Bregenzer Ache crosses through it before flowing into Lake Constance. Its unspoilt landscapes, the villages where traditional houses rub shoulders with contemporary architecture, coupled with its traditions that are very much alive and well, have contributed to carving out a unique identity. Bregenzerwald is also a paradise for mountain lovers.
