The Michelin Guide's review
Perched imposingly on a hill overlooking the river, the massive castle was built in the 12C based on a compact plan with a Greek cross layout. Note the fine, perfectly preserved keep, which has three key rooms: the Great Hall for banquets, the chapel with its twin trefoil bays and a main bedchamber with a large fireplace. The lion, the Percy coat of arms, is omnipresent.
