The Michelin Guide's review
The vestiges of Phylakopi, Neolithic Milos, are scattered over the nearby hill, on the eastern side. Grouped in a hamlet, the first capital of the island and probable ancient Cretan settlement flourished as of the 3C BC. It reveals an already highly evolved organisation. It prospered for 3 500 years, before being destroyed by the Dorians and abandoned in the 11C BC. The site has evidence of Minoan and Mycenaean influences in its last period.
