The Michelin Guide's review
Vorau Abbey, founded in 1163, stands on a solitary hillock and is still used by Augustinian canons. The main gateway of monastery buildings laid out to a strict plan leads to the church façade adorned with fine stuccowork and flanked by two towers. It has excessively-rich interior decoration. Nearby, note the Freilichtmuseum, a very interesting museum of man and the environment.
