The Michelin Guide's review
On Main Gate Street, the Inquisitor's Palace, seat of the Inquisition from 1574 to 1798, is one of the rare examples still remaining in Europe. Its judges, authorised by the Holy Seat to defend Christianity against heretics, represented a clever counter-power for the popes against that of the Knights. Today, this magnificent edifice with a courtyard now houses a museum devoted to the Inquisition.
