Vis, a small, wild and steep island, is, with Lastovo, one of the furthest (45km) from the mainland. It has yet to be disfigured by big hotels and is slowly opening up to sustainable tourism. Its jagged coastline is appreciated by sailors, divers and sports enthusiasts, together with the occasional celebrity.
