The Michelin Guide's review
The scene of Royal christenings, weddings and coronations, this symbol of the evangelisation of the nation also represents today's independent Lithuania. The first churches here were erected in 1251 by Mindaugas and in 1388 by Jogaila. The focus of national devotion, it has been much altered over the years. Its more original interior is composed of three naves with massive columns giving an impression of force and solidity. Note the Baroque chapel of St Casimir (1636) at the end on the right.
