Victor Hugo Museum-Maison Vacquerie
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
In the former house of the Vacqueries, a rich Le Havre family of ship-owners, Victor Hugo Museum illustrates the life of Léopoldine Hugo, the writer's daughter. Letters from Léopoldine to her family, portraits and family furniture recapture the peaceful lifestyle until the 4 September 1843 when she and her husband, Charles Vacquerie drowned. Apart from the Contemplations poems in which Victor Hugo expresses his grief, there are also a number of drawings by the poet.
