The Michelin Guide's review
This British naval base, taken over by Canada in 1906 and abandoned in 1956, stands at the entrance to Esquimalt Harbour. It is set on an 18ha site, where visitors can see the mess hall, the Belmont Battery and lower battery, and the fort's firing range calculation room. From Fisgard Lighthouse there are pretty views over the harbour, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains.
