The Michelin Guide's review
The 16C buildings which surround this square, including the casa dos Sa Sottomayor, make a picturesque urban collection. You will see a fountain, built in 1554, which has several basins; the old town hall of which only the facade has preserved its early 16C appearance and the Hospital da Misericordia, a Renaissance building from 1589, with Venetian and Flemish influences. Alongside the hospital, the church da Misericordia was refurbished in 1714.
