The Michelin Guide's review
Västerås cathedral dates back to the 13C but it has been modified many times over the centuries. For example, the tower crowned by an arrow is the work of Nicodemus Tessin the Younger. Inside, admire the black marble monument dedicated to King Erik XIV (south side of the ambulatory), standing on a red Öland sandstone pedestal; and the impressive black and white marble mausoleum of the Counts of Brahe, decorated with alabaster figures. Three Flemish altarpieces and a 14C triumphal crucifix are also worthy of note.
