Vancouver Aquarium has some 50 000 aquatic creatures and an impressive series of tanks presenting the marine habitats of the British Columbian coast. Visitors can also see crocodiles, tortoises, lizards and a multitude of birds and butterflies displaying bright colours. Meanwhile the controversial cetacean shows have been discontinued, and whales and dolphins are no longer housed here, except temporarily in the case of rescued dolphins.
