The Michelin Guide's review
Tam Coc can be found in the middle of rice paddies on either side of the Ngo Dong river. With its caves and sugarloaf-shaped rocks emerging out of the watery landscape, the scenery is reminiscent of the limestone islands of Halong Bay. Boat trips depart from Van Lam, with its attractive communal house, the dinh Cac. It's also possible to walk along the rice fields, admiring several temples en route, such as the Tran Vi, and the "Jade Grotto" (Bich Dong), a semi-troglodyte pagoda.
