The Michelin Guide's review
This fine museum is set in the Auberge de Provence, built in 1571 and the only French inn still to exist after World War II. The collections chart 7,000 years of human history. Before heading to the museum, whet your appetite with the megalithic remains which are scattered all over the archipelago to better appreciate the number, diversity and age of the objects on display, in particular the Venus of Malta and the Sleeping woman, both exhumed from the catacombs.
