Uxmal: Great Pyramid

  The Michelin Guide's review
When you look out over the site of Uxmal from the top of the massive Great Pyramid and beyond to the horizon of dry forest, spurts of green stick out amongst the vegetation - pre-Colombian buildings that have yet to be cleared out. The town covered about 8 km2. Just imagine it! Then admire the Templo de los Guacamayas (temple of the Parrots), which takes its name from the pretty motifs of macaws, and the three amazing grotesques showing human figures emerging from gaping maws.
