The Michelin Guide's review
In the Spaniards' eyes the Nunnery Quadrangle, a vast palace whose central buildings studded with doorways surround a large central courtyard (76 x 61 m), immediately evoked a convent for nuns, thus the name. Puuc art reached great heights here - in the façades of the elaborately decorated four wings - magically reflected in the play of sunlight. Admire the Chaac masks, grotesques, huts, jaguars, two-headed serpents, arranged in an order associating each wing with a different level in the hierarchy depending on its height.
