The Michelin Guide's review
The emerged part of a large underwater volcano, the tiny volcanic island of Ustica appeared much earlier than the Aeolian Islands. This makes it the oldest in Sicily. Its origin and the blackness of the lava determined its name, from the Latin ustum: burnt. Its jagged coasts reveal caves, creeks and bays of great beauty, including, to the west, with a seabed protected by a marine reserve. If you love the sea, you will be in seventh heaven here.
