The Michelin Guide's review
Construction of Uppsala cathedral, the largest in the country, began around the year 1270 and it was consecrated in 1435. Étienne de Bonneuil, the Parisian architect in charge of construction, endowed it with its characteristic High Gothic style. The building contains fine tapestries, a splendid Baroque pulpit (1710), the gravestones of St Brigitte, Gustav Vasa, and Carl von Linné, and of course St Erik's vermeil reliquary (1579), patron saint of Sweden. Kings were crowned here in the Coronation Vault.
