Kgalagadi Transfontier Park
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Covering 959 103 ha, this park is the result of the 1999 merger of Botswana's Gemsbok National Park and South Africa's Kalahari Gemsbok National Park. The first cross-frontier nature reserve in Africa, it is the fruit of a project initiated by Nelson Mandela, the Peace Parks. On the South African side, two routes follow the course of the dried-up Auob and Nossob rivers, the latter forming the frontier with Botswana. The best time to spot wildlife is between February and May.
