The Michelin Guide's review
The name Jirisan, "the mountain of the odd and wise people", refers to the hermits who tirelessly roamed its vast expanse. The mountainous park with a dozen peaks, the majority of which are over 1 000m high, stretches from west to east along a beautiful ridge line almost 45m long, throwing down the gauntlet to experienced hikers. With its geographical and climatic variety, the park allows a very varied nature to flourish. It is also home to the superb Hwaeom Temple.
