Sfântu Gheorghe of the Danube

The Michelin Guide's review
Called "Peuce" in Ancient times, this arm of the Danube is the oldest, as evidenced by the traces of Greek and Roman settlements that border it. 110km long, it is served by the road from Tulcea to Dunavăţu from Jos, but only the Navrom ferry runs its entire winding course. From the Byzantine remains of Nufăru to the almost deserted beach of Sfângu Gheorghe, from a fish dish sampled in the home of a local to bird watching, discover this flat country where life flows simply.
