The Michelin Guide's review
It is a moving experience to see first-hand the stones of Troy, a city depicted in so many tales and legends. Modest fragments of ramparts, the ruins of a razed temple, a sturdy paved ramp, the vestiges of a terraced theatre, and the odeon bear witness to the existence of this city that was prosperous in particular from 1 900 BC to 1 300 BC. Perhaps confusing for the layman but highly evocative nonetheless, Troy was also the city whose praises were sung by the great poet Homer, the ancestor of Western literature. A fascinating visit which brings together myth and reality.
