The Michelin Guide's review
Visible from afar, the proud yellow bell tower is a vestige of the former convent of San Francisco de Asís (18C). Used as a barracks, a hen house, then a school, the building now houses a museum dedicated to the war waged by the current regime against bandits (counter-revolutionaries) who opposed Castro in the Sierra del Escambray from 1960 to 1965. From the top of the bell tower, the tallest in Trinidad, the view encompasses the town, the Sierra del Escambray and the Caribbean.
