The Michelin Guide's review
Elegant, light, uncluttered and monumental, the cathedral of Trani, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture, is flanked by a tall bell tower and stands apart from any other buildings, its silhouette framed against the blue horizon of the nearby Adriatic. The cathedral is dedicated to St Nicholas the Pilgrim, a devout young man who is said to have died of exhaustion on the steps of the church which stood on this site. Dating from the 12C-13C, the cathedral boasts a harmonious blend of different architectural styles.
