Civil and military monument
  The Michelin Guide's review
The jewel of Trakai, indeed some would say of all Lithuania, this 14C-15C castle was built as a bastion against the Teutonic Knights. Subsequently it became the residence of Vytautas, son of Grand Duke Kestutis. Today, it makes for a delightful visit; its brick walls are the perfect backdrop for children wishing to play at being medieval knights and princesses. The castle also houses the Trakai history museum.
